• Our tinctures and gummies are made from distillates, containing only CBD, THC and carrier oil/ingredients – so they are technically not ‘strain-specific.’ This ensures you are consuming the highest quality cannabis oil possible.
• TXOG does have a tincture product called “Plus” that starts with these same distillates, but are then blended with naturally derived terpenes.
There is another blend which TXOG does not carry due to state regulations in the medical program:
• “Whole Plant”, also referred to as broad or full spectrum. As its name suggests, the final product will contain all of the beneficial components that are found in the marijuana plant. Some research has suggested that there are added therapeutic benefits due to utilizing the whole plant.
Terpenes are responsible for the aromas or flavors in beer, perfume, fruit, incense and much more. Any given terpene can be found to exist in a variety of different plants. For instance, α-Pinene is found in pine needles. Linalool is found naturally in lavender. ß-Caryophyllene is found in black pepper, cloves rosemary and hops. Limonene is common in citrus fruit.
But beyond providing just a unique scent, there are many who believe they also provide a variety of therapeutic benefits not unlike THC and CBD. Terpenes also are thought to contribute to the “entourage effect” – a term suggesting that the presence of a broader portfolio of terpenoids and cannabinoids actually magnifies the therapeutic benefits of the plant’s individual components.
Terpene content can be important as terpenes are considered to possess unique aromatic and therapeutic characteristics that are gaining increasing attention in both the medical and scientific arenas. As with all potentially therapeutic products, be sure to notify your doctor of your intent to include terpenes in your medical regime.
