1. Find Out if You Qualify

Unlike other medical states, Texas does not use medical marijuana cards. Instead, patients with qualifying conditions may obtain a medical marijuana prescription from a doctor registered in the program. To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a Texas resident
  2. Have an approved condition
  3. Receive a marijuana prescription through a doctor registered with the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT)

Then, check to see if you have an approved condition. There are over 200 approved conditions for medical marijuana prescriptions in Texas, including:

  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Cancer
  • PTSD
  • Spasticity
  • Autism
  • Epilepsy
  • Parkinson's
  • Huntington's
  • MS
  • ALS
  • Alzheimer's
  • And over 100 more conditions

2. Talk to a Doctor

Now you’re ready to meet with a registered physician. Simply fill out the Get a Prescription form and a partnering cannabis clinic will reach out to you. Not sure if you have a qualifying condition? No problem, just fill out the form and a registered physician will confirm your eligibility.

Be sure to bring any questions you have to your appointment. Afterward, your doctor will electronically add your marijuana prescription to the Compassionate Use Registry.

3. Fill Your Medical Marijuana Prescription

After your appointment, you can fill your Texas medical marijuana card prescription at a local dispensary. Although there are three dispensaries that are licensed in Texas, Texas Original is the only Texas-owned-and-operated dispensary in the state.

Unlike traditional pharmacies, medical marijuana dispensaries must be notified by the patient that their doctor has put their marijuana prescription in the system. To fill your first prescription, call our dispensary at 512-614-0343.

Finally, choose how you would like to receive your prescription.
