Everything is bigger in Texas, including the state’s largest medical cannabis facility.
Since opening our first location in South Austin in 2017, Texas Original has grown alongside the state’s Compassionate Use Program. Spanning 75,000 square feet, our facility brings every stage of production together under one roof. From cultivation and extraction to production, testing and fulfillment, every product is carefully made to support Texans on their journey to relief.
Take a closer look at how Texas Original products are made, tested and delivered to patients across the Lone Star State.
Medical Cannabis Access Continues to Expand in Texas
Texas’ medical cannabis program has come a long way since its start in 2015. Over the years, lawmakers have expanded qualifying conditions, improved patient access and allowed new product options for Texans with a prescription.
In 2025, House Bill 46 marked one of the program’s biggest updates yet, adding new approved conditions, including chronic pain, Crohn’s disease, traumatic brain injury, inflammatory bowel disease and patients receiving hospice and palliative care.
As access continues to expand, so does the need for reliable, high-quality medicine. From our greenhouses to the moment our medicine reaches a patient, every step is carefully managed through several processes, including:
- Cultivation
- Extraction
- Production
- Testing
- Fulfillment
- Patient Access
Cultivation
Every product begins in our cultivation department. Our Bastrop facility can produce nearly 10 times more cannabis than our original South Austin location. The operation includes ten hybrid greenhouses, each capable of housing approximately 1,200 plants, allowing our team to scale production as patient access continues to grow across Texas.
Our cannabis plants are cared for through every stage of growth, from early development to harvest. We carefully monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, airflow, irrigation, water quality, lighting and more daily to maintain medical-grade standards throughout the growing process. Additionally, each batch undergoes quality testing to ensure consistency, purity and safety.

Extraction
After harvest, the cannabis flower is dried, cured and tested once again before it is prepared for extraction. At Texas Original, many of our products are made using carefully controlled extraction and purification methods that allow us to create consistent, high-quality medical cannabis formulations.
Our extraction lab is also where we craft flower rosin, a solventless concentrate made using only low heat and pressure. This small-batch product preserves the plant’s natural aroma, flavor and cannabinoid profile, offering patients a uniquely crafted medical cannabis experience.

Production
Inside our production lab, raw extracts are transformed into finished products that patients rely on every day. Our production team uses specialized equipment to precisely measure, fill and package products made with simple, high-quality ingredients. Every product is carefully formulated so patients know what to expect every time they order. Medical cannabis patients can choose from a variety of options, including:

Testing
Before our medicine reaches patients, it undergoes rigorous testing to verify safety, consistency and potency. Texas Original is committed to transparency in how we operate our business and manufacture our medicine. That's why we include all test results and make ingredients easily accessible to the public on our website.
Every batch of every product is tested, giving patients confidence that their medicine consistently meets our high quality standards. All Texas Original products include a Certificate of Analysis (CoA), which provides detailed test results and confirms that the product meets strict quality standards.

Order Fulfillment
The final stop on our virtual tour is order fulfillment. Once products are approved for release, our team carefully packs and prepares hundreds of orders daily for patients across Texas. Patients can choose from a growing list of options, including vaporization devices, high-potency tinctures and strain-specific concentrates.
For those unsure where to start, our patient support team is available to help guide you through the process. As more patients learn that medical cannabis is legal in Texas, our headquarters in Bastrop helps us continue producing locally grown medicine that helps patients improve their quality of life.
