CBG & THC: Benefits, Synergy & The New Elevate Tincture

CBG and THC are two cannabinoids gaining attention for their potential therapeutic benefits, including support for mood, focus, pain and anxiety. Texas Original patients already have access to CBG and THC products like gummies and a beverage, and now there’s a new option for experiencing uplifting relief.

Our new Elevate tincture is a high-potency CBG and THC tincture designed to deliver a more concentrated dose, allowing patients to reach their prescribed amount with less oil and greater precision. In this guide, we will explore what CBG is, how it works alongside THC and how to get a medical cannabis prescription.

What Is CBG and What Does It Do?

Cannabigerol (CBG) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid often called the “mother of all cannabinoids” because many major cannabinoids, including THC and CBD, originate from its precursor, CBGA. Early research suggests that CBG may interact with serotonin and other neurotransmitter systems that influence mood and alertness (Li et al., 2024).

How Do CBG and THC Work Together?

When used together, CBG and THC may complement each other through what many researchers describe as the “entourage effect.” This concept suggests that cannabinoids and other compounds in the cannabis plant work better together than on their own (Navarro et al., 2018).

Research suggests that CBG may influence how THC interacts with cannabinoid receptors. THC supports mood and physical relief, while CBG may produce a more clear-headed experience for some patients (Cuttler et al., 2024; Li et al., 2024). This balanced combination makes CBG and THC formulas appealing for those who want therapeutic relief with a more controlled experience.

New CBG and THC Medical Cannabis Tincture

Our new Elevate tincture contains a higher concentration of cannabinoids, allowing patients to reach their prescribed dose using less oil. Here's to expect from our Elevate tincture:

  • 7.5 mg CBG + 7.5 mg THC per 0.25 mL, with 900 mg of each cannabinoid per bottle
  • Higher potency allows patients to reach their prescribed dose with less oil
  • Balanced 1:1 formulation designed to support an uplifting, controlled experience
  • Flexible, drop-by-drop dosing

What Terpenes Are in the Elevate Tincture?

Texas Original’s Elevate Tincture features a terpene profile from a sativa-dominant strain called Maui Wowie. The primary terpenes in Elevate are myrcene, α-pinene, and β-caryophyllene.

CBG and THC: Uses, Effects, and Key Differences

What does CBG feel like?

Some patients describe the feeling of CBG as clear-headed, calm, focused and uplifting. It is often described as a "motivational calm," which may help with mental clarity, concentration and potentially reduce inflammation and anxiety (Li et al., 2024).

Is CBG good for pain or anxiety?

Early clinical research suggests CBG may help reduce anxiety and stress. In a recent double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, a single 20 mg dose of CBG significantly reduced self-reported anxiety and stress compared with placebo, without causing intoxication or cognitive impairment. Preclinical research and user reports also suggest CBG may reduce pain and inflammation (Cuttler et al., 2024).

What is the difference between CBD and CBG?

CBD and CBG are both non-psychoactive cannabinoids, but may produce different effects. CBD has been studied extensively for anxiety-related responses and is commonly associated with calming effects. In contrast, CBG may produce a more energizing, clear-headed experience and support focus for some patients. These differences are believed to stem from how each cannabinoid interacts with serotonin receptors and the endocannabinoid system (Skelley et al. 2020; Li et al., 2024).

Is CBG and THC legal in Texas?

Yes, CBG and THC are legal under the Texas Compassionate Use Program. Texans with a qualifying condition can access medical cannabis products like gummies, a tincture and a beverage containing CBG and THC.

What is a 1:1 CBG and THC ratio?

A 1:1 CBG and THC means the product contains equal amounts of CBG and THC. This balanced ratio is often used to provide therapeutic relief while promoting a controlled experience. Together, CBG and THC may work synergistically (often called the entourage effect) and may influence how cannabinoids interact to provide therapeutic benefits (Calapai et al., 2022).
