Everything You Need to Know About Medical Cannabis in Texas

On April 20th, also known as 4/20, people across the globe celebrate the power and truth of medical cannabis. And today, Texas Original is proud to join the celebration as the first medical cannabis dispensary in the state.

4/20 is a special day for us at Texas Original, as it honors the bravery of patients who have shared their inspiring testimonies and success stories with medical cannabis. We also take this opportunity to applaud the advocates who continue to support the expansion of this medicine in Texas. Together with our patients and cannabis advocates, we remain committed to advancing safe and legal access to this life-changing medicine.

Getting Medical Cannabis in Texas

As we celebrate 4/20 and the power of medical cannabis, we also understand the importance of making this medicine easily accessible to patients under current regulations. At Texas Original, we are dedicated to not only providing high-quality, medical-grade products but also making the process of getting a prescription simple.

We believe that Texans deserve safe access to medical cannabis, and we are here to help guide you through the process.

Step 1: Schedule an Appointment

The first step is to schedule an appointment with a doctor registered to prescribe medical cannabis. Several physicians offer convenient telemedicine virtual appointments so that Texans can get a prescription from the comfort of their own homes.

Over 150 conditions qualify for medical cannabis in Texas, including:

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Cancer
  • Epilepsy and other seizure disorders
  • Peripheral neuropathy (Nerve pain)
  • Alzheimer’s and other dementias
  • Parkinson’s
  • Autism
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • ALS
  • And over 150 neurodegenerative conditions

Step 2: Talk to a Doctor

During your appointment, the doctor will review your medical records and confirm your eligibility for medical cannabis, then discuss your treatment plan. Once approved, your doctor will add your prescription to the online medical cannabis registry, where licensed dispensaries can access it.

Step 3: Pick Up Your Medicine

After your appointment, call 512-614-0343 to place your first order. A Texas Original representative will help you select your products and schedule you for a pickup or delivery.

By providing consistent and top-of-the-line cannabis medicine, we can continue to shed light on the power and truth of medical cannabis and change people’s lives. We take great pride in our work and will continue to set a high standard for the entire industry.

The Future of Medical Cannabis in Texas

The future of medical cannabis in Texas is bright and Texas Original is committed to increasing patient access across the state. The 88th Texas legislative session is underway, and House Bill 1805 is making significant progress, offering thousands of Texans hope for increased access to medical cannabis.

If passed, HB 1805 would expand the Compassionate Use Program by adding chronic pain to the list of qualifying conditions and improve the THC cap by introducing a volumetric limit. With medical cannabis already approved to treat chronic pain in many other states, it’s clear that this alternative treatment option can help patients transition away from opioids and improve their quality of life.

To get involved, contact your representative to let them know you support HB 1805. You can also help advance the bill by sharing your story, as this will help demonstrate how medical cannabis is transforming the lives of Texans. Click below to get started.
