Compassionate Cultivation Announces Balanced 3:1 Formulation Targeted For Expanded Conditions
Texas Original Medical Cannabis Provider Serves First Patient Under New Conditions Identified in Recent Legislative Changes AUSTIN, Texas—Aug. 29, 2019—Compassionate Cultivation, the leading medical cannabis company in Texas, announced today the general availability of a new, “balanced” formulation of its medical cannabis tincture with a 3:1 ratio of CBD to THC. Previously, only patients with intractable epilepsy qualified for medical cannabis in the state of Texas. Legislation passed in June 2019 opens up access to patients with conditions including all forms of epilepsy and other seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), spasticity, autism, terminal cancer, and incurable neurodegenerative diseases.  The company also disclosed that it is the first dispensary in Texas to provide medical cannabis to a patient under the newly expanded conditions. The patient, Charlotte Friedley, lives in the Austin area and is being treated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. “With the expansion of the Texas Compassionate Use Program, more Texans now qualify for state-regulated, low-THC medical cannabis,” said Morris Denton, CEO of Compassionate Cultivation. “We are prepared to bring cannabis-based medicine to patients, like Charlotte, suffering from these new conditions by developing a variety of formulations—all available with the active participation and oversight of a registered physician.” “This is just the beginning of giving Texas doctors a broader selection of cannabis-based medicines to prescribe for a wider array of qualifying medical conditions,” said Dr. Karen Keough, Chief Medical Officer for Compassionate Cultivation and a board-certified Child Neurologist. “By developing this new formulation, Compassionate Cultivation is addressing the growing demand for regulated cannabis-based medicine, while increasing the likelihood of more positive patient outcomes.” The 3:1 formulation tincture will be priced at $90 per 30ml bottle and $50 per 15ml bottle. It will be available in the same flavors as the company’s 20:1 formulation including cherry, mint and unflavored. Compassionate Cultivation made Texas history when it opened its doors in February 2018 as the state’s first retail dispensary. The Texas-based company is one of three businesses licensed by the Texas Department of Safety to grow cannabis and process it into low-THC formulations of CBD oil.
