Compassionate Cultivation made history in Texas on Feb. 8, 2018, when it opened the doors to the state’s first medical cannabis dispensary and welcomed in patients. The Austin-area facility provides a safe and accommodating environment where patients or their guardians can fill a prescription for locally produced, lab-tested CBD oil, now available under the Texas Compassionate Use Act to registered patients diagnosed with intractable epilepsy. It’s also a place where patients, caregivers and interested community members can go to speak with qualified professionals about low-THC medical cannabis treatment for intractable epilepsy.
The dispensary, located at 12701 Lowden Lane in Manchaca (just 20 minutes south of downtown Austin), is staffed by medical cannabis experts who are available to answer questions, facilitate patient consultations and physician outreach, and provide detailed information on product lines and retail merchandise. Compassionate Cultivation is one of just three businesses in Texas that are licensed to grow cannabis, make cannabidiol (CBD) extract products and sell them to state-registered patients.CBD oil products are made on-site, and tested for potency and to ensure products are free from any heavy metals, microbials or chemical contaminants.
With the opening of its dispensary, Compassionate Cultivation launched its first line of cannabis-derived medical products, called Lone Star. This panel of condition-specific CBD tinctures are specially formulated to contain 10 percent CBD and 0.5 percent THC, in accordance with state law. All production batches are potency tested to ensure consistency. The Lone Star line of cannabis tinctures are made from CO2-extracted cannabis oil, USP-grade Coconut MCT Oil or Safflower Oil, and food-grade essential oil flavoring. Each product contains 100 mg CBD and 5 mg THC per 1 mL of tincture. The Lone Star line comes in three flavors—cherry, mint and unflavored—and is available in two sizes for added convenience and flexibility: 7.5 mL (containing 750 mg CBD / 37.5 mg THC); and 15 mL (containing 1,500 mg CBD / 75 mg THC).
